Renowned clothing store Handsome Freaks has been bringing vintage and modern skate, street, sports and designer wear to the regenerated heart of Margate for the last six years.
Owner Ally Blackgrove has been committed to bringing style and originality to its rails, with only pre-loved stock remaining the core focus of Handsome Freak’s remit.

Every piece in the shop is hand picked by Blackgrove in LA, so don’t be surprised to find vintage Moschino alongside rare Stussy tees from the 80’s and 90’s. The racks bulge with fashion/skate cross overs from Supreme, 80s and 90s American classics from Tommy Hilfiger and Guess… and there’s even a kids section.

So, it’s no surprise that when Depop, in partnership with Selfridges, came looking for the best vintage fashion retailers around the UK to highlight in its pop-up at the iconic Oxford Street Department Store, Handsome Freaks were on the hitlist.
The theme for October’s pop-up is ‘Uniqueness’.

“Every month or so I pick a few themes that I’m into and create collections that allow our customers to mix and match between these genres to create a completely individual unique look,” says Blackgrove.

So, whether your look is ‘Y2K Cool Kid’, ‘High Fashion Skater’, 90’s cast member from the movie ‘Clueless’, ‘Myspace Goth’ or ‘Classic Skate Slacker’, you can get Your (Handsome) Freak On and see them at the pop-up on the third floor from 17th - 24th October.

The Margate shop located just around the corner from The Turner Contemporary Gallery, on Broad Street, is open every day 12-5.
