Geeeeeeeeettttttt out of it!

It’s an ending fitting for the start, as the Libertines’ boutique hotel in Margate is finally ready to be opened to the public.

The news of the purchase three years ago caught the imagination of fans and national rags alike, but it has been a labour of love, with many people wondering What Became of The Likely Lads and whether their plans would end up being a Horrorshow.

Though the Wasteland Bar has already enjoyed numerous rock and roll nights, a three-year Saga that saw the transformation of the seven-bedrooms has finally heard the Last Post On The Bugle, and the opening is upon us.

Comprising a restaurant, coffee shop, two bars and a recording studio, the hotel will even offer a fine dining experience - overseen by chef Joe Hill from The Table, Broadstairs - which will have foodies Begging for more.

There’s no doubt the project could have caused Vertigo with five storeys of a run down seafront gaff to renovate, but the Boys In The Band have made it to the Belly of The Beast… opening time.

There are of course references to the band across the hotel, but hopefully it’s only the painted lyrics that will be whispering a Death on The Stairs.

The bedrooms are plush, boudoir-like and ready for guests to make Music When the Lights Go Out.

As front men Carl Barât and Peter Doherty would hope, its public rooms are designed to inspire, while the in-house music studio is hoped to bring those who use it Fame and Fortune, just as the former London dwelling that the hotel’s name derives from, did for the Libertines.

There was no Road to Ruin, and when we dropped in to Tell The King of the new ‘cene magazine edition… ‘cor blimey and stone the crows, it was plainly obvious that the building was ready for a return to The Good Old Days.

So, it’s time shut down the doubters, turn away the Barbarians and decline the importance of the Narcissists with their Campaign of Hate; it is now Time For Heroes. Don’t Be Shy, roll up, come on down, the Albion Rooms is ready.
