Cliftonville-based Palm Bay Skates (@palmbayskates), who are known for their sports inspired classics threads, have collaborated with local illustrator and designer Rob Flowers (@hellorobflowers) to imagine his ultimate local baseball team and design one of their classic baseball jerseys.

From their workshop, where they cut, sew and embroider garments by hand, Palm Bay Skates has released the made-to-order ‘Cliftonville Kings’ jersey alongside some other ‘Team Merch’ including baseball cards, pennants and t-shirts.

Owner Matthew Tomkins said: “Rob’s work has been described as 'Trippy... as if you took a whole load of acid, ate too much candyfloss and went on the waltzers at your towns local fair. It’s all a bit much, borderline grotesque, but you had a brilliant time’.“

Rob Flowers, who has designed characters for the Tinie Tempah and The Kaiser Chiefs, said: “…it’s been a really fun project to collaborate on. Well, unsurprisingly, if you’ve ever seen my work or Instagram before, I’m a big fan of mascots so that was the starting point for the team. I decided that I wanted my team and mascots to be inspired by where I live in Cliftonville, so there’s a Sun, seaweed, grumpy seagull, shell and a dog poop character in the set.”

We think you’ll agree, the jersey certainly makes a statement! Go Kings!
