Florence Arman - Fever

Released last week, the highly-anticipated debut EP from songwriter Florence Arman, Out Of The Blue, doesn’t disappoint. It’s chock-full of intimate bedroom pop numbers that are imbued by tastefully selected production choices that see her ooze into all sorts of genres with her own unique style.

At the centre of Out Of The Blue is the skeletal and elegiac Fever; a confessional song about how her love for someone consumes her like an illness. Putting her angelic and dextrous voice at the centre, we feel closer to her than ever, with subtle backing vocals steaming up the background like the heat in the bedroom, a quiet beat merging into the song to mimic the rising heart rates. “I got fever” she intones, extending the final syllable into a moment so filled with lust it’s dizzying – it’s given us the fever too.

Immy - Summer Haze

Maidstone-based teenage songwriter Immy has released a few impressive singles already, and that culminates today as she drops her debut EP, Golden Skies.

A stand-out track from the release, Summer Haze is all about leaving the baggage behind and making the most of the endless days we’re currently living through. With a simple but effective backing of light piano and wispy vocals, she sets the balmy scene, and her luxurious voice is able to help us believe that they’ll never end. Purple skied evenings, love under the stars, sleepless nights – it’s all here in Immy’s song, and she comfortably puts us in a Summer Haze.

Summer Haze launches at 5pm.

Volleyball - Not For Today

A psych-pop beaut from East Malling, Volleyball’s Not For Today finds them battling their better instincts to beautiful effect. On the one hand, they have to stay and work, on the other, their mates are telling them to get themselves down to the ocean for a dip and a frolic.

Vocally, Volleyball seem trapped in the office, musically, Not For Today is a bright and fun-loving jam that wants to embrace the sun and all the people frolicking under it. “I wanna fix myself but I don’t know how,” they lament – but the answer is clear: leave it all behind and follow the irresistible rhythm down to the coast.

Katie Kittermaster - Out Of Love

Having signed a global publishing deal with BMG just last month, Katie Kittermaster is on the fast track to the top – but she’s not without some baggage, as she puts on display in her latest break-up bop Out Of Love.

Although focusing on the sadness of the realisation that “we fell out of love a long time ago”, Katie ensures the song remains uplifting with a crystalline pop backing that lifts her emotion to a gloriously universal plane. “I’m so over the quiet nights in / I’m so done with the cage fighting,” she affirms as the song ramps up into its energetic chorus. She’s clearly and audibly moving on – and the future looks blindingly bright for the Cranbrook songwriter.
