Cosy Club is known for its eye-catching interiors

New all-day dining and cocktails venue the Cosy Club (@the_cosyclub) is to open in Canterbury this August.

Set in the four-storey former Waterstones book store on St Margaret’s Street, Cosy Club Canterbury will serve British, European and Asian dishes with a nod to North America at Brunch.

“We can’t wait to bring a touch of glamour and our fresh, modern menu to the food scene,” says a spokesperson for the business. “Join us for relaxed dining and drinking in a really special setting with a touch of timeless glamour.”

Known for its eye-catching interiors at its sites across the UK, the brand is owned by Loungers, which was founded in 2002 by a trio of long-standing friends, Dave Reid, Alex Reilley and Jake Bishop.

Having spent years in the restaurant and bar trade they decided it was time they did their own thing. The motivation was to create somewhere they wanted to drink, themselves. They opened their first site in an empty opticians on North Street, Bristol.

The brand has since become known for its cocktails, vegetarian, vegan and Gluten-Free menus, its ‘Bounless Brunches’ and its eccentric staff uniforms.

“The historic city of Canterbury has been a particularly attractive location for some time given its location in the heart of Kent,” says the spokesperson. “The strong retail and leisure offer of the city coupled with its world-famous Cathedral and popular universities means that it has significant appeal for tourists and locals alike. We had a unique opportunity to secure this wonderful four storey double-fronted site and bring our eccentric style and fresh, modern menu to Canterbury.”

The Canterbury site is set to create some 70 jobs for the area.
