Former England Football Team chef joins Kent pub

TV’s Omar Meziane has fed Harry Kane and Co, as well as Team GB and the Spice Girls

TV’s Omar Meziane has fed Harry Kane and Co, as well as Team GB and the Spice Girls.

He’s cooked for the country’s elite sportsmen and women - from rugby pros to the England football team - as well as the Spice Girls.

But now leading chef Omar Meziane is heading to the coast to take up position of executive chef at The Lantern Inn (@thelanterninn) in the picturesque village of Martin in Dover.

It seems quite the change for classically trained Meziane, who started his career at London’s Oxo Tower before honing his skills at other prestigious venues, and moving into culinary consultancy and TV.

Most recently he was personal chef to the England football team, and has also fed rugby pros the Harlequins and Team GB.

But he is now joining the team at The Lantern to help continue their journey to become south east Kent’s destination pub of choice.

“I am so excited to be joining The Lantern Inn, and working in a region that is bountiful with incredible produce,” he explains.

“I am very much looking forward to continuing and expanding relationships with our local producers and cooking beautifully simple, seasonal food for everyone to enjoy.”

The 17th century countryside inn is just a stone’s throw from the famous white cliffs and near to Deal and Dover.

It has been styled with unique antique curios, period paintings and heirlooms creating a charming and eclectic atmosphere.

The pub has a seasonal à la carte menu and clay-built pizza oven and hosts music and other events.
