Maidstone River Festival set to return after a two-year break

The county town’s biggest annual event returns this summer with illuminated boats, raft races and fireworks from the roof of a shopping centre

Maidstone River Festival is coming back with a bang after being cancelled for the past two years.

The festival, which started 40 years ago, is the town’s biggest annual event and it is being held on Saturday, July 30, on the River Medway.

There will be dressed up boats, raft races, with fun and games for all the family, in addition to a stage for local performers.

In the evening, boats will be illuminated and the day will end with a fireworks display off the top of Fremlin Walk in the town centre.

“This is a great family day out, showcasing the beautiful River Medway and bringing together the whole community,” said David Naghi, chairman of the River Festival.
