Evan Williams - When The Shutters Rise Again

Instagram: @evanwilliamslive

Bursting out of Broadstairs with debut single When The Shutters Rise Again, indie rocker Evan Williams has hit us with his self-described “space-age cowboy punk” sound.

Written in the spring of 2020, the song was born from the frustration of the first national lockdown. It was recorded in The Libertines' own studio at The Albion Rooms In Margate and produced by Dan Lyons, and there are certainly elements of similarity to the foursome. Image conjuring lyrics and confident guitar licks express Evan’s vision of a world sleepwalking into captivity at that time.

Street artist Chu (@chu3d ) has even lent a hand on the pop-art-influenced music video to accompany the single. We cannot wait to hear more.

SEA GIRLS - Hometown

Coming in fresh off the back of a rapturous sold out UK headline tour, Sea Girls wasted no time in dropping ew single Hometown - taken from their highly-anticipated new album Homesick - out 14th January 2022 on Polydor.
Written on frontman Henry Camamile’s first day home during the pandemic, it’s an epic statement of intent, with Killers-sized hooks – but one that’s also real, grounded and focused on teenage high times.
“‘Hometown’ is one of the most important songs I've written. It defines my philosophy.” says Henry. “While writing songs for the new album, I had this intense love for life. Hometown is about people I knew growing up that aren't around anymore. I'm saying ‘I see you’ - it’s a nod to them. I'm grateful for life and I am not going to jeopardise it in any way.”
It feels very much like a record from a band finding their prime. Precision execution with an air of knowing that this will hit.

ilselena - For A Minute

Instagram: @ilselena

Sundridge’s own ilselena has knocked it out of the park with a soul-packed RnB number that highlights the mess of the Ex.

“Because I’ve got better things to do. F*ck going back to you. Finally we are through. But here we go again.”

Honey-dripping voice, sexy beat and and jazzy piano take you to a place of relaxation, but the funky bass background just keeps it edgy enough to swap it from a the glass of wine and sofa listen, to an exposed brickwork, funky basement cafe track.

Listen to it just for the vocal scales alone!

M Dot R - Cali & Grabba

Just when you think to yourself, ‘I haven’t heard an M Dot track for a bit..’ and so the man returns. Sheerness dancehall, grime, rap and general lyrical maestro M Dot R has released new single Cali & Grabba.

His ability in bringing hard-edged lyrics and combative style to silvery twinkling hook always catches the ear, while skilfully he drops the beats to keep all attention of the listener. The sheer invention of new track Cali & Grabba - we will let you Google the meaning - means that M Dot remains just a fascinating artist to listen to.
