Viva Las Vegan cafe opens in Maidstone

The new cafe is 100% vegan and ready to set customers on a path to plant-based enlightenment

If we’re honest, it was the name that first grabbed us.

But Viva Las Vegan (@vivalasveganmaidstone) is more than just a name - it’s a new Maidstone cafe, 100% vegan and ready to set customers on a path to plant-based enlightenment. Well, those who aren’t yet vegan anyway.

In fact owner Stewart Arnott - who is open about the fact he isn’t vegan himself - says he’s well on his way.

“My son is vegan, my wife is getting that way and quite a few of my friends are,” he explains.

“But there isn’t anywhere like this in Maidstone and so I saw a need. Really the opportunity came up and it was the right place, right time.”

The premises is at 62 Earl Street by Fremlin Walk, and he was able to turn it from an office into a cafe.

He admits business has been slower than he thought it would be, but that those who have been in have been spending and he hopes word of mouth will spread.

“I’m also in the process of joining Just Eat,” he added.

The cafe offers eat in or take-away and serves sandwiches, hot savouries, such as sausage rolls, as well as drinks, with coffee from Coffee Bean UK.

Cakes are made by vegan bakery My Lavender Kitchen.

Opening hours are 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays.
