A two-day festive celebration in Dover - the 2022 Winter Light Up - will this year include a mesmerising ‘Fire Garden’ taking place on Dover Roman Lawn.

Close to the town’s Market Square, the area will be transformed with a series of immersive fiery installations, created by outdoor arts experts Walk the Plank.

The Fire Garden will take place on Friday 2nd December (5pm to 9pm) and Saturday 3rd December (4pm to 6pm and 7pm to 9pm). Entry is free and members of the public can turn up on the day to enter, though there are also free priority entry tickets available here which will guarantee entry.

Sponsored by the Port of Dover, the Winter Fire Garden, forms part of a wider celebration. On Saturday 3rd December, a Christmas Market including Father Christmas, live entertainment and festive activities will be spreading cheer at Market Square from 12pm to 9 pm.

At 6pm on Saturday, a Lantern Procession includes four new big builds lighting up Dover, starting from Dover College, heading through the high street, and finishing in Market Square.

A full schedule of the weekend’s events, including lantern-making workshops, can be viewed on the Destination Dover website here

Doug Bannister, Chief Executive of the Port of Dover, said: “These last few years have represented a real challenge for the community and we are pleased to be helping to deliver this free event and bring some Christmas magic to the people of Dover.

“After the success of the Dover Regatta in the Summer, we cannot wait to continue this collaboration.”

This year, the Port of Dover is joining with Dover Town Council, Dover District Council, Future Foundry and Destination Dover to deliver festive celebrations to Dover.
