The Veil, starring The Handmaid’s Tale's Elisabeth Moss, shot in Kent

New spy thriller series released in Disney+ next week

A brand new spy series led by The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss will feature scenes shot in Folkestone and Canterbury city centre.

Premiering on Disney+ from Tuesday 30th April (with episodes being released weekly), The Veil is a six-part thriller following the relationship between two women – Isobel Salter and Adilah El Idrissi – as one works to uncover the other’s deadly secret.

The series was created by Steven Knight (Redemption 2013, Amazing Grace 2007) and stars Elisabeth Moss as Imogen Salter and Yumna Marwan (Little Birds, Costa Brava, Lebanon) as Adilah El Idrissi.

Kent Film Office confirmed that filming for the series took place in Canterbury with the lead actresses running through a busy City Centre towards Canterbury Cathedral.

The street scenes were filmed on Buttermarket, Burgate, Mercery Lane and Butchery Lane, while driving shots also took place on the A2 and the A252.

One of the Canterbury scenes even makes it into the trailer - see above.

Supporting the lead cast are Dali Benssalah (No Time To Die) as French operative and Imogen’s lover Malik, and Josh Charles (Dead Poets Society) as Imogen’s American counterpart Max.

Filming also took place at 14 Augusta Gardens in Folkestone using its large white and cream Italianate-style Victorian semi-detached villa, just off the beach. The interior of the property features a grand piano, white marble fireplaces and a cantilevered staircase.
