Kent’s bOing! International Family Festival returns

The festival announces the world premiere of Alice by Jasmin Vardimon Company


On August 27th & 28th 2022, the annual bOing! International Family Festival will once again welcome the most innovative and exciting performers from across Europe to the Gulbenkian Arts Centre and the beautiful University of Kent campus in Canterbury.

Back with a full programme for the first time since the Covid pandemic hit, highlights at bOing! 2022 include the world premiere of a show by Jasmin Vardimon Company based on the tale of Alice In Wonderland, ALICE

The programme also boasts Le Gateau Chocolat with Duckie, a theatrical reimagining of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling, and local company and bOing! favourites, Half A String are returning with their new show Breathe, a truly unique blend of puppetry, thumping D&B, ethereal folk songs and live camera work.


Fire Songs is a new immersive sensory sound experience created for audience members with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) by Frozen Light.

bOing! regulars Dybwikdans return to with their interactive storytelling show for ages 0-18months MOONMoon, inspired by legends myths and legends associated with the moon.


bOing! regulars, Architects of Air return for the first time since 2019 with their spectacular Luminarium: Arboria II, an immersive and interactive sculpture is dedicated to the theme of ‘trees’.


Thanks to support from Arts Council England, bOing! is free to enter (indoor performances listed above are ticketed at £6) and gives thousands of families from across Kent the chance to experience brilliant theatre, music and dance performance.

Audiences at bOing! 2022 can enjoy the Global Sounds Stage programmed in collaboration with Music For Change, join a riotous and ridiculous outdoor family performance of Rascally Diner, follow the Royal Poodle Parade, a procession featuring stilt walking poodles, gasp at the acrobatic circus show Pirate Taxi, experience a VR thrill ride Volo: Dreams of Flight, and much more!
