Acclaimed designer Daniel w. Fletcher has been spending his summer in Margate with a pop-up shop just yards from the sand.

The two-storey space on Marine Drive - his first seasonal store - is home to the first release of his AW21 collection, as well as exclusive pieces inspired by the town.

The designer, whose clothes are favoured by singer and style icon Harry Styles, has made waves in the fashion world, including being named as GQ’s breakthrough designer in 2020 and previously nominated for a respected LVMH Prize.

In addition to his pop-up store, he has transformed the lower ground floor of the Marine Drive building into a DWF ‘studio-on-sea’, with support from MADE, with the space used for community workshops and events, led by Fletcher and guest musicians and artists.

His Margate collection, which was featured on Hypebeast, includes his signature staple split-hem trousers, contrast stitch denim and bound-edge shirts.

“Fletcher also introduces the Beach Shop, sitting proudly in the centre of the store,” his website explains.

“Here is an eco-friendly take on the traditional bucket and spade stalls the British seaside is known for.

“Fletcher has produced his own range of recycled frisbees, paper windmills, DWF sticks of rock wrapped in compostable wrapping to sit alongside organic cotton jerseys and pairs of swim shorts made using recycled plastics collected from the ocean.”

The store is open until September 1.
