Pizza Weasel - Let’s Ignore

Margate’s Pizza Weasel has clicked the distortion button and riffed out on Let's Ignore - the first single off the upcoming album Visible Fungus.

We’ve come to know the lo-fi indie and fizz-crackling guitars from the Weasel and after indulging in the 2021 Travelling At The Speed Of Boredom album, we knew it was only a matter of time before his cheesed-off rock would make a delicious return.

Guitar elements of Blur’s Graham Coxon (the wicked Britpop years) are held together by mildly irritated but extremely engaging vocals, in a romance-led track that commentates on all those people that grind our gears.
”Let’s ignore these people all together,” sings Weasel. We say… you cannot ignore Pizza Weasel.

Samuel Ashton - Breathe Easy

Blessed with soaring vocals that feel like a warm jumper keeping you safe from the cold, Samuel Ashton has released new track Breathe Easy ahead of an EP (that will be making its way onto vinyl) in the spring.

The Canterbury-based artist just loves to perform live and can often be seen playing his acoustic soul in towns and venues across Kent, in fact he winked at me the other day in Faversham’s town centre during another captivating showing. As with his previous track Spreading Light, meaningful, relaxing lyrics bring ease to your ears. And as his single artwork - featuring the bark of a tree - suggests, the artist always seems at (enviable) total peace with his surroundings. This time with a brassy backing, the alleviating guitar and reassuring voice settles you in for another Samuel Ashton chillout masterpiece. Breathe Easy.

Bella Penfold - Pretty

It’s not often that we engage with any X Factor associated artists (mainly because we feel it is the Devil and single-handedly destroyed Christmas Number Ones), but former finalist and Tunbridge Wellsian Bella Penfold has dropped a heavy, catchy AF, and empowering rap track - Pretty.

A stop-what-you’re-doing-and-listen opening is backed with plenty of bass leads a barrage of uncompromising, provocative lyrics.

Bella’s first release under label Marylebone Records, Pretty showcases her rhythmic flow and is a legitimate entry into the UK rap scene.

Bella said: “Pretty was all about making me feel good. I wanted to show people that. I hope people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, religion and sexual orientation listen to this track and feel like that baddest b***ch ever. This is a song about making everyone feel pretty.”
