Glow Illumination Trail returns to Maidstone

Cobtree Manor Park has already welcomed almost four thousand visitors to the trail this December

After only four days of opening the Glow Illumination Trail has already welcomed almost four thousand visitors to Cobtree Manor Park in Maidstone to see our dazzling light installations.

The trail opened on Thursday 1st December, and we have already received countless happy reviews from audiences who have praised the event and the work of over 30 local and independent artists and organisations who have contributed to making this year the unique and thrilling event that it is.

After a hugely successful, sell out event in 2021 the Glow Illumination Trail is back with a brand-new theme and installations to enchant and captivate guests of all ages.

This year’s theme 'A Midwinter Night's Dream' focuses on the beauty and wonder of the nocturnal natural world.

Filled with walkabout performers and immersive and interactive experiences, The Glow Illumination Trail has a huge variety of unique light installations made by local and UK artists specifically for this event.

Meander through the vibrant ‘Enchanted Woodland’ then stroll through the Christmas Village, sprinkled with sparkles and amazing installations, taking in the sights and sounds of the great outdoors when the sun goes down.

Guests can stop off for a festive treat along the way and enjoy the spectacular light projections and immersive installations in our specially created ‘Ocean Realm’

Guests can look for sensory sessions; quieter evenings with less people for guests who need a lower sensory experience. Plus younger guests can enjoy the ultimate treat with a bookable ‘Meet Father Christmas’ experience and we’ve not forgotten our furry visitors – dog-lovers are invited to bring their four-legged family members .

Creative director Lisa Carpendale is the driving force behind the event, with a passion for inclusivity, accessibility and creating quality immersive experiences as she explains: “It’s really important to me that this event is as accessible as possible. My team and I have worked really hard to create a spectacular experience that feels cosy and intimate, rather than overwhelming. We are so excited to welcome people to the event and provide a magical experience for everyone”

She adds “We could all do with some extra festive cheer this year and our event will give people an affordable and wonderful night out under the stars. There really will be something for everyone at the beautiful Cobtree Manor Park.”
