The Phoenix Tavern achieves two AA Rosette status

Abbey Street venue is currently Faversham’s only establishment with the prestigious two Rosette AA accolade

The Phoenix Tavern in Faversham has been awarded two AA Rosette status.

Offering a menu of contemporary British cuisine under head chef Scott Pendry, the Abbey Street tavern is currently Faversham’s only establishment which holds the accolade.

The AA Rosette Awards scheme celebrates restaurants across the UK. Two rosettes are earned by “Excellent restaurants that aim for and achieve higher standards and better consistency. A greater precision is apparent in the cooking, and there will be obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients.”

The 14th century pub is run by co-proprietor Kim Sharrock, who said: “We are exceptionally proud of our Head Chef and team who trusted our vision for The Phoenix and committed to bringing it to life.

“We opened at the end of lockdown; working in an industry that is recovering from the pandemic and during a cost of living crisis. This award is really special, as a result. We are deeply appreciative of our customers who choose to spend their time with us and value what The Phoenix brings to Faversham.”

Scott Pendry, added: “I am so pleased that our work has been recognised and proud that we are able to share a menu that is creative, bold and exciting. I have lived in Faversham my whole life. To now be working back here, serving a menu that is my own, based on the knowledge and experience gained throughout my career, is very rewarding.”
