Canterbury Auction Galleries has announced a bumper collection of pieces will go up for bids across Friday April 12th, Saturday April 13th and Monday April 15th.

Available to bidders online, the collection has some very rare items. We’ve picked out a coupel that could be of interest!

The book we all know as Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (real name Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) was originally titled ‘Alice's Adventures Under Ground’. Est £4,000-£6,000 (226).

There is also a massive collection of rare Pokemon and other collectors’ cards, in mint condition and mainly factory sealed – for the next generation of auction buyers.

They include TGC Charizard GX SV49/SV94,  Holo,  est £200-£500 (935);  Unbreon Vmax 215/203,  Holo,  Evolving skies rainbow, est £300-£500 (944).

Yu-Gi-Oh TCG - Four Ghost From the Past, 2020, 1st Edition booster boxes,  est £200-£300 (1047) and Magic The Gathering TCG - Modern Horizons II collector boosters, est £250-£350 (1050).

Graphic artists will love this 1936 London Underground poster designed by Harry Beck (1902-1974) who created his imaginative and beautifully simple design in 1933. An electrical draughtsman by trade, Beck based the now-famous map on a circuit diagram, stripping the Tube network down to a neat arrangement of coloured lines that became the template for transport maps worldwide.
His map was initially rejected as being too radical but a trial showed that it was just what people wanted. This map is one of a short-lived trial series featuring much-thickened lines in the central area to include  the line names - believed to be against Beck's wishes. Est £1,500-£2,000 (1174).

And yeah, yeah, yeah:  a Beatles concert programme, its cover designed by John Lennon for  'The Beatles Show' concert programme from 1965 - the final UK tour – and an Odeon Hammersmith ticket to 'Another Beatles Christmas Show',  from  January 16,  1965. £180-£220 (248).

Who remembers Top Cat – leader of the gang? This publicity drawing of him is signed by none other than Bill Hanna & Joe Barbera . With an Animation Art stamp to lower right, it measures 8.5ins x 12ins and is framed. Est. £100 - £150 (1202).
